PhD circular economy researcher (researcher profile) – Working thesis description (2024-)

Oscar is a PhD researcher at the Global Sustainability Institute, Anglia Ruskin University, funded by a scholarship from the Faculty of Business & Law. His research focuses on the social and technological dimensions of the circular economy to explore how professionals can act morally and sustainably at work. He investigates the visions of architectural collectives through drawing-based interviews, developing an understanding of how sustainable futures are imagined, negotiated, and enacted in the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Bhutan.

He holds a BSc and an MEng in Sustainable Biotechnology from Aalborg University, Copenhagen. He has written on the relationship between Buddhism and the circular economy in Bhutan, as well as on the global diffusion of renewable biogas technology during an internship at WIP Renewable Energies in Munich. In 2020, Oscar co-founded Future Shift, a sustainability consulting start-up, where he served as Creative Director until 2024. To date, the company has supported over 100 businesses through B Corp certification and continues to operate in London and Dublin. He is currently based in Cambridge, where he expects to finish his PhD in 2027.
